Chatting with Chai: Volume 6

I swear, every time the month ends, I’m always wondering, ‘what the what? Where did it go?!” I always have to go back to my Instagram to see what we did and where we went. I started keeping a list and tracking my activities in my printable planner so that’s been really helpful to figure out what we were up to.

In January, we kicked off the virtues and traits learning journey on the blog with Leadership. We reviewed some products, read some fun books, and created and played a game. It was a busy month, with lots of learning, not just for Serena, but also for me.

Leadership is made of several key characteristics that I want to focus on and I was unable to give any of them the true focus I wanted to due to the lack of time in the lesson plans I had built. In 2019, I am going to revisit leadership with Serena again, most likely focusing on it for the whole year.

January has been a really great recognition for me in terms of brand recognition and making money through affiliate income and money on Instagram. (If you’re looking for tips on how to do this and you’re a new blogger, make sure you subscribe to my blogging tips email and get access to my library!)

I was able to do a campaign through Heartbeat for Carnivore and Blender Bottle, both coming at a very opportune time for us as Sanjay and I started Keto.

Okay, so Sanjay started Keto.

Okay, he started Lazy Keto.

Ugh, fine. So I cook for him whatever he wants to eat.

Well, whatever. We’ve been having lots of protein shakes and bun-less burgers. Bullet-proof coffee is still hard to get down but we have XS energy to hold us down so it’s all good.

I was also asked by Gap Kids for rights for a photo of mine for them to use. And most importantly, I was recognized and followed by ArtistryUs for all my love for Artistry. I’m super excited for some beauty posts coming.

With brand growth, comes expectation of creativity and consistent content. Working with brands and other bloggers, responding to emails, staging pictures, strategizing content — all this takes time. Time less spent cuddling with kids, cooking big meals, or even cleaning the toilet.

(The twins may or may not have played with toilet water on one or more occasion this month. Yea, it was pretty shitty. Pun intended. And yes, I immediately turned them around and gave them a both. Both times.)

Anyway, there’s one of me; three of them; and hundreds of you (gosh can you believe it?!). So, I’ve decided to bring on some guest bloggers to help bring some fresh voices to the blog. They’re other awesome bloggers, crafters, and small business owners who have a lot of fun stuff to share. I can’t wait for you to meet them!

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to otherwise..

Reading: The Art of Productivity by Jim Stovall. I’ve read a few other books by Jim Stovall before and he’s a great read. I’ve been asked why I read only positive mental attitude books, and the short answer is, I don’t. I read a lot of other books, too, but I can only really talk about one book that has made an impact on me in a month and it’s usually the positive or educational one.

Watching: I have been re-watching This is Us from the beginning. As you all already know, Sanj and Jack have a lot of personality traits in common, making them basically perfect human beings. This is Us is one of those shows that makes you cry and you still don’t know why you keep watching it.

Listening to: It’s like a nursery exploded up in this house. Since the boys are getting older, we’re singing more songs, which means more dance parties. So now, they know Itsy-Bitsy-Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle, and Poker Face (don’t ask..). The usual rhymes, you know. We do want to introduce them to new jams and artists that we are familiar with so more to come on that!

Working on: I’m not one to toot my own horn but the resources library for bloggers has gotten a lot of free information added to it. It includes things like hashtags to use for mom bloggers, what brands to work with to get paid to blog, where to get the best pictures, etc. If there’s more information you’re looking for, holler at me!

Anyway, what have you been up to?
