This holiday break, I am prepared. Like, I AM READY. I got our crafts ready, a list of elementary Christmas books out, holiday sensory boxes prepped, and my worksheets and coloring pages printed. Honestly, I don’t know how it happened and came together, but here we are.

My boys are at that age where they are really into cutting, pasting, and tracing. Like, there is a real obsession with staying on the line and purple glue. So much so that now my diaper bag is cut and sticky.

But, I digress.

Free Preschool Winter Tracing Worksheets

Tracing is one of those things that are quintessential for children. Honestly, I’m not really sure how to teach the actual act of writing without at least reviewing tracing. Not only does tracing worksheets help with practicing fine motor skills but it strengthens dexterity, which really helps with Dysgraphia.

Pre-Writing Skills

Pre-writing skills are basically the things your toddler and preschooler need to work on before they are able to write the alphabet. To have legible hand writing, you need to have gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and visual skills. This includes basics like teaching how to correctly hold a pencil, tracing shapes and lines, and even having the hand-eye coordination from pencil to paper.

These free preschool winter tracing worksheets do just that. There are curved and angled lines kids can trace. There are letters and shapes. There’s even a section that requires you to cut and paste once you’re done tracing.

a printer
regular paper or card stock or colored paper
pencil
glue stick

How To Use It

These tracing worksheets are no-prep and don’t need any pre-work from you. You will need some additional supplies as aforementioned but it’s really just print and go!

The December Tracing worksheet will need some scissors and glue. I have included the spelling, but kids might also need guidance on the order of the letters.
