Chatting with Chai: Volume 9
Happy Monday, ladies! I am so glad that it’s time to recap what April was about.
It’s been quiet on the blog lately. We’ve been having sooo much fun recently, making the conscious effort and being intentional with our lives. If you follow me on Instagram, you know what I’m referring to.
There have been so many uncertainties the last two months. So much anxiety caused by my own over-thinking. (Tell me I’m not the only one!!!) This leads to consuming massive quantities of Cheetos in the bathroom and crying softly while watching How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Also, Pinterest and Twix ice cream bars become an obsession. But that’s neither here, nor there.
Anywayyyyyyy. See, I’m a planner; I need to know what my next two steps are so I know where to focus my energies. Unfortunately, I’ve been so overwhelmed with making a decision of where to live and what to do that I really forgot why we started on this journey to begin with: We left our home state in search of green pastures, literally. We wanted to have a better life balance, a quality home life, and enjoy the warmer weathers.
So that’s what we’ve been doing. I took a little break from Instagram and blogging to really center myself, focus my mental energies on spending time with the kids and family.
We went to the tulip farm.
The Dallas Zoo
And lots of farmers markets!
We learned about bugs in our Bug Unit and even went on a road trip to Tennessee for the second half of April.
This is our second time there. We came back for a second time because we had some business to take care of and we really enjoyed our first experience but we were only there for a night. So we decided to come back and spend some more time there to see if that is actually a state we can see ourselves raising our family.
Turns out, it’s not. It was an interesting experience (and exhausting with all the driving) that lead us to really close the door on Tennessee. It’s a great state with lots of great food and nice people, but it’s not somewhere we could see ourselves settling down long-term.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to…
Reading: Ayn Rand’s book titled The Fountainhead. I feel like sometimes I really get lost with scenarios in my own head and I just need a break. From myself. I am obviously still in a book of the month club and reading that every month; but in an effort to stay more focused on living in the moment and unplugging from work or social media, I’ve started casual, light reading. Let’s see how it goes and whether I can finish it! 🙂
Watching: Damn you Disney channel. I swear I have seen almost all the episodes of Paw Patrol this month. NOW THAT SONG IS STUCK IN MY HEAD.
Listening to:Â 90s Dancehall summer hits because old school music gives me life. Also, dancing is a great way to lose weight. Re: Twix bars and Cheetos aforementioned.
Working on: Filling my own cup. I have a tendency to stress myself out. Like, a lot. I’m come to the realization that I need a break sometimes. I need to focus more on myself instead of work work work. You can’t fill from an empty cup, right? So I’ve been getting better and better at taking a break and focusing on myself when I need.
Anywayyyyyyy, what have you been up to? Let’s be friends and you can tell me <3
